"Her Choice to Heal"  Group Classes

Post-abortive counseling is not a part of many pastoral or psychological programs. These materials have provided them opportunity for me and thousands of other women to receive successful healing through God’s grace.

I had no idea after hearing Melissa Ohden speak in 2011 and telling her my story that she would recommend for me to take a post-abortive healing class since I had experienced abortion.  It was weeks later that I met Lori Driggs, formerly President of If Not for Grace Ministries and she would lead me into deeper healing through this class.   Lori mentored me through a nine-week class called, Her Choice to Heal by Sydna Masse using her book, workbook, and materials.  It was then that God took me to a place of deep cleansing and healing.

It was over 15 years that I was hiding the secrets and pain of my abortions, never speaking them out loud to a soul and believing that if you did, that I would be rejected, loathed, ridiculed, and condemned. It is fear of those things that construct a wall, forming a dark cocoon around a trapped soul. Sometimes God uses other’s stories to unlock a memory in us that can be the key to progress that cannot be found journeying alone.  At the same time, it would take me to a deeper understanding of why my mother kept the truth of my life a secret from me for so many years due to her experience.

These classes provide a safe, warm, supportive environment for women who have had abortions and for them to come together to talk about their feelings and experiences.  In this process, I have repeatedly seen walls come down and women emerge healed and free.

The title of the class is based on the book, “Her Choice to Heal,” and that choice to heal is an integral part of the work. I also use Sydna Masse’s workbook and discussion format, as well as creative and artistic tools.  I have helped lead several women to heal while partnering with the Holy Spirit to use God’s truth to overcome the lies that bind women who have experienced abortion.
